Waste and Recycling
Recycling Banks
There is one recycling bank in the Parish located at Maynard Place Car Park Cuffley. (See map above).
These provide recycling facilities for:
-
- Glass
- Plastic
- Cardboard and paper
- Aluminium Cans
- Clothing and Shoes
Recycling Clothes and Shoes
Take clothes and shoes you no longer want to recycling banks (see above). Alternatively, donate appropriate items to charity shops, car boot sales or via websites, such as: www.uk.freecycle.org
Minimising your rubbish
Taking responsibility for our waste involves more than just recycling; reducing our rubbish in the first place is even better for our environment.
One third of all food purchased is thrown away. For tips on storage and recipes to use up leftovers, go to: www.lovefoodhatewaste.com
Home compost
Use a subsidised home composter, available from £19, to compost your garden waste, fruit and vegetable peelings at home. See: www.herts.getcomposting.com or call 0845 130 6090.
Rubbish and Recycling – Household Waste
Bin Collections in the two villages are arranged by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.
We are part of the SOUTH WELWYN HATFIELD collections which can be viewed on their RED calendar.
They operate a standard system with a blue/black bin for recycling and a black bin for general waste, which are collected on alternate weeks, with an additional green caddy for food waste which is collected weekly.
